The ageing process can present in skin degradation, as well as concerns such as rosacea, psoriasis, scarring and other trauma to the skin. Dr Bhavin offers regenerative medicine to help the skin heal itself from within, so that you can look and feel your very best, at all times, without resorting to more invasive methods.
What is PRP?
This form of regenerative medicine harnesses and amplifies the natural growth factors, which can be found in our own blood cells. This therapy helps to heal damaged tissue and has been used for many years in joint and ligament healing in athletes. During this treatment, a sample of blood is taken from your arm and spun in a specially developed centrifuge. The blood separates to the red blood cells and clear liquid plasma. The plasma is then injected back in to your skin, to aid recovery, healing, cell turnover and the generation of collagen and elastin fibres. PRP can treat a variety of skin concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, hollows and loss of facial volume, conditions such as Rosacea and acne and trauma scars.
What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are DNA fractions, extracted ethically from salmon and trout sperm. The concept of using Polynucleotides in facial aesthetic is fairly new, innovative and revolutionary. However, research on the regenerative properties has spanned 40 years and the use of this substance has been in used in regenerative medicine for the body for around 35 years. Polynucleotides, when sterilised and injected into areas of the face promote cell turnover, improve skin elasticity and hydration as well as improve the appearance of photoaging and sun-damaged skin, as well as smoothing acne scarring. Polynucleotides are also used as an alternative to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers (for those patients who are sensitive to HA) and can offer superb tear trough revitalisation for dark circles, bags and wrinkles around the eyes.
What are Exosomes?
Exosomes are powerful substances which can restore the cells throughout your body. When applied, they enhance cell-to-cell communication, essential for overall cell health. Compared to adult stem cells, exosomes contain nearly 3 times the amount of growth factors. Exosome therapy has been labelled the upgraded version of PRP and in this treatment, no blood draw is necessary. Exosome therapy can be used to improve and increase collagen and elastin production; the 2 fundamental building blocks of healthy and youthful looking skin, and which deplete rapidly as the ageing process progresses from the age of around 25. Exosomes are extracted from donated mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and are sterilised prior to application, which negates the need for blood to be taken from you, prior to treatment. This is a more suitable option for those who are squeamish about having their bloods taken and who wish to see optimal skin regenerating results.
Am I suitable for regenerative medicine treatments?
Prior to any treatment being agreed upon, Dr Bhavin will need to ensure that you are not only a suitable candidate for a specific procedure, but that any treatment you undergo will be safe, and with no negative side effects. At your initial consultation with Dr Bhavin, you will be able to discuss what bothers you about your skin and the treatment options available to you. We will also review your medical history, to ensure there are no contraindications which may prevent or restrict a chosen treatment from going ahead. This initial meeting falls in line with Dr Bhavin’s duty of care as a medical practitioner, to offer a holistic, safe and professional approach to your aesthetic goals, without compromise.
