Accessibility Statement

The standard we aim for

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, motor, auditory and cognitive differences.

What we do to support accessibility

• Use semantic HTML and landmark regions so assistive technology can navigate the page structure.
• Provide visible keyboard focus indicators, and support navigation without a mouse.
• Aim for text and interface colours that meet WCAG AA contrast at their rendered size.
• Provide text alternatives for meaningful images and label interactive controls.
• Design layouts that reflow on small screens and when text is enlarged.
• Respect the operating-system 'reduce motion' setting for animations.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. We are aware of, and working to improve, the following areas:

• Some older images may have incomplete alternative text.
• A small number of embedded third-party components (for example maps and booking tools) are outside our direct control and may not fully meet AA.
• Some downloadable documents may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers.

Third-party content

Some features rely on third-party services, including online booking, embedded maps and the UHai skin-analysis tool. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of services we do not control, but we choose providers with accessibility in mind and can help you complete any task by another route.

Tell us the page, what went wrong, and the assistive technology you were using if relevant. We aim to respond within five working days.

Enforcement

If you are not happy with how we respond to your feedback, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) can provide advice, and the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations in the United Kingdom.
