Electrosurgery
What is electrosurgery?
Restore smooth, balanced skin with expert care
Electrosurgery is a precise medical technique used to remove or treat benign skin lesions by applying controlled electrical energy to the targeted tissue. It allows unwanted growths to be cut, coagulated, or destroyed with accuracy, helping reduce bleeding and protect the surrounding skin. With Dr Garara, your care begins with an assessment and educational consultation, ensuring the technique and aftercare are fully tailored to your skin and long-term goals.

How It Works
How does electrosurgery work?
Electrosurgery works by delivering a carefully controlled electrical current through a fine instrument to targeted skin tissue. This energy generates heat within the cells, allowing the lesion to be cut away or gently destroyed while sealing small blood vessels at the same time. Because the energy is highly focused and targeted, the surrounding skin is largely unaffected. The result is precise treatment with minimal bleeding, controlled depth, and predictable healing.

What to expect from electrosurgery with Dr Garara
Consultation: Your consultation with Dr Garara begins with a detailed discussion about your concerns, medical history, and how the lesion has changed over time. He carefully examines the area, assessing the type, depth, and suitability for electrosurgery, and explains the diagnosis in clear, simple terms. You are guided through why the lesion forms, the available treatment options, and whether electrosurgery is the appropriate choice for you.
Treatment: Your skin is first cleansed thoroughly, and precise markings are made to define the treatment area. A small amount of local anaesthetic is carefully injected to ensure you remain comfortable. Once numb, Dr Garara uses an electrosurgical handpiece to deliver controlled electrical energy directly to the lesion.
Recovery: After your treatment, you can expect mild redness, swelling, or tenderness in the treated area for a few days. A small scab or crust will form as part of the healing process, and it is important that you do not pick or disturb it. You may be advised to keep the area clean, apply a prescribed ointment, and avoid excessive sun exposure.
Results: The treated lesion is removed immediately. Over the following days to weeks, the area settles as the surface skin renews itself and any scabbing naturally resolves. Once a benign growth is fully removed, it does not return.
