Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?
Reawaken natural tissue repair from within
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a regenerative treatment that uses a concentrated portion of your own blood to stimulate repair and renewal. After a small blood sample is taken, it is processed to isolate platelets rich in growth factors, the powerful biological messengers that signal tissue regeneration. When injected into the skin, scalp, or joints, PRP promotes collagen production, supports hair follicle activity, and enhances natural healing. PRP essentially activates your body’s ability to repair itself.

How It Works
How does platelet-rich plasma (PRP) work?
Your body already contains the tools it needs to repair and regenerate; PRP simply concentrates and delivers them precisely where they are needed most. After drawing a small sample of your blood, it is processed to isolate platelets rich in growth factors that act as biological messengers, signalling cells to repair, regenerate, and produce new collagen. In the skin, they stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin for smoother, brighter, more resilient skin. In the scalp, they signal weakened or dormant follicles to re-enter and prolong the active growth phase for thicker hair. Within joints, they modulate inflammation and encourage healing in tendons, ligaments, and cartilage.

What to expect from PRP with Dr Garara
Consultation: Your consultation with Dr Garara begins with a detailed discussion of your concerns, goals, and history. You’ll receive an explanation of how PRP works and whether it is appropriate for your skin, hair, or joints. Dr Garara carefully examines the treatment area, assessing tissue quality, anatomy, and underlying causes rather than relying solely on symptoms, before guiding you through expected outcomes, treatment planning, and timing.
Treatment: Your session begins with a small blood draw from your arm, similar to a routine blood test. The sample is placed into a medical centrifuge, which spins at high speed to separate the platelet-rich layer. While this is underway, your treatment area is cleansed and, if needed, numbed. The purified PRP is then drawn into fine syringes and precisely injected into targeted points in your skin, scalp, or joint using controlled, anatomical techniques.
Recovery: After your PRP treatment, you may experience mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the treatment site. These effects are expected and usually settle within a few days. For scalp or joint treatments, temporary tightness or soreness can occur as the tissue responds. You’ll be advised to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and anti-inflammatory medications for a short period, as these can interfere with healing.
Results: You may begin to notice early changes within a few weeks as your body initiates the regenerative process. Because PRP works by stimulating natural repair rather than delivering an instant effect, improvements develop gradually. Skin quality, hair strength, or joint comfort typically continues to evolve over several months. The results are long-lasting but not permanent, and maintenance treatments may be recommended to sustain them.
